High Point’s Design Trends 2012
High Point is the epicenter of the design world and from this bastion of design they have gathered together the four top trends from 2012. Old ideas and motifs are updated with a twist. Look for ethnic embellishments abound, oversized botanicals are in bloom, metallics make their mark on all things home decor and bold graphic patterns make furnishings come alive.

This year, look for a range of metals, from bronze and copper to platinum, gold and silver. Especially exciting is the use of metallic fabrics. I am very fortunate that I don’t have to work at a cubical but if I did this is an interesting idea. Created by Julio Radesca de Carvalho , his project called “Personal Fresh Air” for his graduate work from Design Academy Eindhoven. The cubicles are desks designed to incorporate a dozen plants, which both help to clean the air in offices, as well as provide privacy. What do you think? Genius or just a little weird?
