High Point is the epicenter of the design world and from this bastion of design they have gathered together the four top trends from 2012.  Old ideas and motifs are updated with a twist.  Look for ethnic embellishments abound, oversized botanicals are in bloom, metallics make their mark on all things home decor and bold graphic patterns make furnishings come alive.

All that glitters, Metals range from bronze to gold and silver.  These finishes show up on upholstery, case goods and accessories.  This year, look for a range of metals, from bronze and copper to platinum, gold and silver. Especially exciting is the use of metallic fabrics.

I am fascinated by the Chelsea’s High line in New York City.  With creativity and vision they transformed an unused relict of another era into a wonderful public park.  Now interest is turning to an unused trolley terminal into an extraordinary subterranean public park– nicknamed the “LowLine.”  To see more go to:
