Don’t know if you are a fan of Bravo’s hit series, Flipping Out, but Jeff Lewis the design star of the show has a new series, Interior Therapy with Jeff Lewis. The designer switches roles and becomes a therapist – that should be interesting! The show follows Lewis and his associate as they move into someone else’s home for five days. Lewis will observe the homeowners, diagnose their problems, and judge their flaws with brutal honesty—with the goal of improving them inside and out. Can’t wait to see this!
Last week I was working with a potential client in College Park and they asked me to clarify exactly what a designer would do for them for their remodeling job. In a nutshell, a designer has the resources, knowledge and experience to assist you with the myriad of decisions you have to make to complete a design project. If you are designing a kitchen you need to choose the type of cabinet door style, counter top material, backsplash tile and pattern, appliance brands and features, lighting options, etc. This is only a small selection of what you need to consider for your new kitchen.
For example, if I client came to me and said they wanted a kitchen with white cabinets and how hard can that be to figure out? Well you can see from the following examples from www.housebeautiful.com just how different a white kitchen can look and feel.
This kitchen has cabinets with white, glossy finishes, colorful accents and Carrara white marble combined to create this fresh, modern kitchen by Jonathan Adler.
