We just got back from one of our favorite fall getaways – Blue Ridge, GA.  We try and time it so we can enjoy the fall leaves and we did, although what we did not count on this year was snow!  Not enough to hinder us but it did add an unexpected twist to the visit.

Snow and fall leaves, unexpected combo!

Some of our favorites in this area are:  For your accommodations check out www.escapetoblueridge.com they have a wide array of cabins for you to select from, all with great views and close to the local attractions, shopping and restaurants.   Georgia also has a surprising number of wineries.  We really enjoy www.wolfmountainvineyards.com .  They offer lunch on the weekends and Sunday brunch.  The view from their porch is worth the drive!

Found a great art gallery in Blue Ridge, GA. www.highcountryart.com .  My biggest problem was deciding which piece to buy!  The owner, Cheryl Engledow, has a great eye and a nice price selection.  One of the best local attractions is Mercier Apple Orchards, www.mercier-orchard.com .  They have a huge store with a wide variety of gourmet goodies, an extensive gift shop, a café, and bakery and of course, apples galore!  We made the mistake of not visiting them the first time we visited the area and when we did the next time we couldn’t believe we had skipped it.
